Paying for Veterinary Care

As with everything these days, vet costs are rising. We all want to provide the best care for our pets. However, this can be difficult sometimes when an illness or accident arises unexpectedly. While we understand that paying for vet care can be hard, and while we also want to provide your pet with the best care possible, we are unable to provide discounts or payment plans.

However, we are aware of two things that could help you meet the cost of your pet’s care.

The first is a special credit card called CareCredit. The account can only be used for health care costs for both you and your pet. They offer lower interest rates and special payback schedules. If you are interested in finding out more information, you can go to CareCredit or call 1-800-677-0718.

The second way to help with vet costs is to purchase pet insurance. Many insurance companies can provide health insurance for your pet. They have all kinds of plans to choose from. The cost of the insurance plan is set by the insurance company.

If you want to get the most use out of pet insurance, it is best to get it when they are puppies and kittens. Once your pet has had an illness or health concern it is too late for your pet insurance to help, due to their clause for pre-existing conditions. If a pet has been treated for an injury or illness prior to purchasing the pet insurance policy the company will not pay for any further treatment for those issues. If you are interested in looking for pet health insurance Forbes.com reviews pet insurance regularly. You can find the reviews at Forbes Advisor.

If you choose to get pet insurance you still pay in full for your pet’s veterinary services at the time of your visit. Pet insurance operates on a reimbursement plan (see image below). In order to be reimbursed you will need to get any records, veterinarian’s notes, or receipts at the time of your visit. We do not deal directly with pet insurance companies. Please let us know if you have pet insurance and we will try and remind you to collect these things before you leave our office. Ultimately, you will be responsible for collecting information and discussing it with your insurance company.
